WHO’S THIS GUY

First off, I’m not that guy up there. But I connect with that picture in a very big way. Why? Because I’ve spent the last two decades looking at a wall full of things I wanted to do and just staring off into space in wonder. I’ve been a corporate trainer, a manager, a stay at home dad and a small business owner. Every step of the way, I’ve come back to me looking at everything I wanted to do with a sense of excitement but fear, the fear that comes from being overwhelmed and not being able to figure out what’s next. And so I decided to figure that out.

As a part of that process, I’ve changed jobs several times over the past two decades but the positions I’ve enjoyed have always been about helping people get to where they want to be. I’ve coached and trained and managed people to positions and situations far beyond my own lot in life and this is something I’ve never been more proud of. I’m an intently focused person who doesn’t have a first gear. Instead I like to dive headlong into everything, throwing myself passionately into my work as well as the things in life that don’t come with a paycheque.

I’m a runner, a gamer, an ice hockey player, a public speaker, a field hockey player, a coach, a father, a husband, an entrepreneur, and a community builder. Sound familiar? Most of us wear a thousand hats a day and are pulled in a million different directions. I didn’t like the pulls from every direction so I decided that I needed to change the way that I did things.

So I dug into every single process and program that I could get my hands on. I took courses and “masterclasses”, attended (and spoke) and conferences and workshops, and watched more webinars than I feel comfortable telling you. But I always felt like things didn’t connect with me. And then an opportunity presented itelf.

Someone I knew from the creative community was looking for someone to help with their social media process (another hat that I wear) but was also looking for someone to help them identify a career path that would lead them to success and happiness. So I put on another hat. During this coaching process, the client received a new job offer with a company she really wanted to work for and was incredibly pleased with the process. So, I wrote the process down and the core of that became my book and my coaching method. Since that point I’ve helped people find new jobs, new paths in life and make discoveries about who they are and what they really want out of life.

That’s me. Who are you?

My Thoughts On The World

O Canada…

O Canada…

I'm writing this while I watch Team Canada try to claw their way back into contention in the gold medal hockey game against...Germany. If you're not a hockey fan and don't know why this would be a strange occurrence, let me give you some ideas of comparisons. What if...

I’m Glad You’re Excited…But That’s a Terrible Idea

I’m Glad You’re Excited…But That’s a Terrible Idea

I hear a LOT of bad advice in the run of a day. I'm on a lot of different channels where people are trying very hard to present their opinions and push their ideas as a legitimate option for the future. And there's one thing that I've noticed that I feel like I have...

Make Little Choices, Not Big Mistakes

Make Little Choices, Not Big Mistakes

They say that if a butterfly flaps it's wings in Japan there's an Earthquake in California. It's known as the Butterfly Effect. Now, the theory is a little more complex than that. But at the core, it's about the idea that it is the little things, those minute choices...

Laughter Is The Best Medicine

Laughter Is The Best Medicine

I am a very big stand up comedy fan. One a week I refer to a different stand up comedian as "my favourite comedian." Just to be consistent, here goes. I love Chris Rock. He's my favourite comedian. I've quoted Chris Rock more than probably any other comedian that I've...
